There’s nothing really I can possibly say about Katrina right now that isn’t, after a fashion, just Glenn Reynolds-esque passing along links with “shame if it’s true” or “heh” after it. Except with swear words and hatred levied at the hardon private property still gives everyone (the very idea of a “shoot to kill” policy on looters should be some sort of crime against humanity). And there’s not much else I particularly feel like talking about. I feel like a dick for coming back tonight from an evening at the Skylark where I was discussing Michael Brown’s career over the din of obnoxious indie hip dance music.
You all know where I go for my news, and you can also imagine that any insight I might have has already been made by however many commenters or whatever over there. So I’m taking a break. Let’s say until next Monday, or the first resignation/firing, whichever comes first (so, in other words, Monday it is).
If you want a diversion, I suggest listening to early Talking Heads. It’s not soothing, but it’s what I’m all over right now.
[UPDATE: 9.9.2005 13:12] No, Michael D. Brown has not been fired. He’s just gone back to DC, and the White House has outsourced his responsibility to Thad Allen. But he’s still the head of FEMA, so the mini-hiatus continues.
