A while ago, I wrote about how, because of the referrer loop on my page, I became the #1 hit for a certain Bollywood actress not wearing any clothing. I thought it was kind of funny as the comments to that post just kept growing and growing. But, of course, these things are geometric. So last week, this site (and other sites hosted on the same box) dragged to a crawl. Apparently, a P2 can’t handle 1000 hits a day.
So I’ve reined some stuff in. The referral thing is gone. I’ve obscured all references to the actress’s name. I’ve deleted as many of the requests for files of these women as possible from the comments. I’ve added her name to the comment spam blacklist, and I think I’ll be monitoring comments carefully. Now I just have to wait for google to catch up and forget about this lowly site.
If you want to know how ridiculous it got, I’ve added sitemeter to this site. Something like 80% of the referrals to this little page are coming from google.com.in. I’m not a marketing expert, but I think that K4p00r coould make a boatload of cash by putting these photos and the like up herself. Finally, if you want to see what the most popular post (by comment count) on this site used to be, here’s the .pdf.
PS: In a nice piece of serendipity, the site will be getting a processor (and possibly RAM) upgrade v. soon.
