I already did one of these music “meme” things earlier this year, but the masses have spoken, or something like that. Anyway, here goes…

1. Total number of CDs. I don’t know. It’s about 20+ linear feet, though. I stopped counting shy of 300, and that was years ago, I think. I also have 1.5 milk crates full of cassettes, mostly concert tapes of a certain band. And I have half a milk crate full of vinyl. My iTunes library is 52.16 gb as of today.

2. Last album I bought. Hyde Five. Last “real” album? Reggae en español megamix, vol. 2. Last non-compilation? Cassius, Au rêve.

3. Currently listening to: Holiday, by the Magnetic Fields.

4. Lyrics or beats? Beats. Always beats. The best lyrics in the world can’t mask how boring just an acoustic guitar is.

5. First album you fell in love with. Thriller. Come on, what did you expect?

6. Album with the largest impact. This is totally impossible to answer. Lately? Maybe the 2 Many DJs album. That thing was created by people who have a far different sense of what music is than I do. And that’s awesome. But music doesn’t change how I live my quotidian life that much, so I can’t say n album is impactful.

7. Fav. album. No idea. This all changes so fast with me. Like, I haven’t listened to X&Y since this review, even though I’m sure I (might) still like the album. Right now, it’s probably Kraftwerk’s Die Mensch-Maschine. Or the Take Ecstasy with Me / Get Up single by !!!.

8. Most listened to album. Whatever it is, the bulk of the listening was probably in high school. I listened to the Cure’s Wish a lot. And, um, Phish’s Lawnboy. Since then? Maybe Pet Sounds or Abbey Road or Stereolab’s Dots and Loops or something like that. Or, very conceivably, a Dimitri from Paris mix.

9. Sexiest album. Right now, it’s Cassius Presents… French Disco. This album just oozes intimacy. I have no idea how, or why, considering the last two tracks feature vocals by Ghostface Killah and Mike Skinner.

10. Biggest Disappointment. Anything by R. E. M. after Green, save Automatic for the People? I don’t own any of those albums, though. Maybe GZA’s follow up to Liquid Swords? Or, worse yet, his follow up to that? Those CDs I do have… First album I sold upon realising it was disappointing: U2’s Achtung Baby.

11. Five albums that mean the most to you. A Love Supreme, Saint Etienne’s Good Humor, the Cure’s Wish, Fear of a Black Planet, Pet Sounds.

12. Tag. I’m too tired to lunge.
