There’s little I hate more than lazy, easy protests like Not One Damn Dime. Then again, there’s nothing I like more than being involved in lazy, easy protests. So I’m doing it. Of course, under strict interpretation, this protest is impossible. I’m doing plenty of things today that cost money—I’m just not spending any. But what about my bus ride to work? Well, I already spent that money, I guess, on my pass. What about lunch? Well, my purchase from the vending machine has no time-stamp on it, so I can eat from there today. Dinner? Bought a Pancho Grande yesterday night and have over half of it left—though I won’t be able to buy its companion chips (oh wait! I had Pete buy chips last night!). See how silly this gets?

Anyway, if getting on the bus counts as spending money, well, fuck you, you maniac high-handed protestors. If I stayed at home today, all I’d do is watch the Chimperor’s Coronation on television, and that’d cost the taxpayers tons of money in the future after I get convicted for destroying my TV or whatever. But that wouldn’t be money they’d be spending today.

  1. My protest shall be my vote in 2006.

  2. Plus I don’t really think it makes sense to protest an inauguration. It’s not like a gas-out where it has some theoretical if not palpable effect. They’re not like going to take back the inauguration. Nor will the economy be affected at all, for reasons suggested in your post. Voting tends to cut to the chase more.

by the way, i can’t figure out what the hell is wrong with my blog, please advise.

  3. i just got so annoyed by that website that it ruined my night
